November is here!


Welcome November! During the month of October, the boys and girls in Room A have been especially busy. In Math, they continue to work with numbers and representing numbers in a variety of ways. They have also been working on some complicated yet exciting new math problems as part of their learning. In Language, the class continues to make many connections. In addition, they have been learning about the character trait of Responsibility. By reading many different books, the grade two's know what responsibility looks and sounds like in their everyday life. As well, in Social Studies, the group continues to learn about many unique and varied celebrations such as Christmas, Diwali, and Halloween. Finally, the grade 2 class is proud to welcome Ms. Dua from the University of Toronto. She is a student teacher who is working with the grade 2 class at Valleyfield. Welcome and good luck!

June is already here!

June is already here!

During the month of May, the boys and girls in Room 112 continue to work hard. In Math, the group worked on solving various math problems and learned new strategies as well. In Language, the class practised and demonstrated an understanding of how to write persuasive letters and meaningful poems. In addition, in Visual Arts, the grade 2's continued to learn about famous artists such as Pablo Picasso and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Finally, as the end of the school year approaches, the grade two class is excited about a final trip to the Etobicoke Field Studies Centre.

Marvelous May!




Marvelous May is here! Hurray!

During the past month, the boys and girls in Room 112 were especially busy. In the beginning of the month, both of the grade 2 classes participated in a field trip to the Art Gallery of Ontario. As well, the class has been inspired by this trip and has created some works of art. In Math, the class continues to work with several types of word problems and adding and subtracting double digit numbers. In Language, the class has been creating some very well written poems in the theme of poetry month.

The class continues to work with solids & liquids in Science. In addition, they are excited about the Arts night coming soon!

April has arrived!


Spring is finally here! The boys and girls in Room 112 are very excited that spring is finally here. During the month of March, the grade two class worked extra hard. In Math, they completed a unit in Geometry and they are now working on measuring time and money. In Social Studies, the class worked on individual projects. They interviewed a family member and created time lines for significant events. They presented the information to all of the class members as well. In Language, the class continues to learn about various character traits. Most recently, they have learned and discussed about honesty and integrity. Finally, the grade 2 class is excited about beginning Dance this semester. Both Miss. Wu's and Miss. Mishos' class particpated in dance class together. They have learned the Bunny Hop, the Chicken Dance, and the Alley Cat.

Welcome March!


Welcome March!

The boys and girls in Room 112 welcome a new semester. They are excited that spring is around the corner as well. In Language, the grade two's have been learning about Black History. They have shared stories and discussions about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks. The Grade 2's have also been working with their creative writing and learning how to add more descriptive details to various writing pieces. In Math, the class has been studying probability through many games and fun interactive lessons. In Science, they are studying the movement of Air and Water in the environment and will then look at Solids & Liquids. In Social Studies, they have been working on personal timelines and will then create one about a family member. Finally, the boys and girls in Room 112 have been looking forward to a Dance-a-thon at the end of February. They have had the opportunity to fund raise for the school. They are also very excited about the upcoming March Break. We wish everyone a safe and happy spring vacation.

Welcome December !

The boys and girls in Room 112 have been especially busy during the month of November. In Math, we have been working with numbers and number problems. The students have also been doing some work with the hundreds chart. In Social Studies, the class has been learning about holidays and celebrations that are celebrated here in Canada and around the world. Most recently, they have also been working on individual research projects too. In Science, the grade two's have continued learning about animals and their environments. They will be finishing up this unit and starting one related to Air and Water in the Environment by focusing on Weather. Finally, the class is very excited this season as they team up with Miss. Wu's grade two class in practising and performing the song Winter Wonderland for our annual Holiday Sing Along Assembly. Finally, the boys and girls in Room 112 have been learning about empathy and caring for others in our community. As a group, we decided to collect canned goods and dry food items to donate to a local shelter. We are very proud of the hard work and generosity of our class and their families. Thank you so much!

Welcome Back to School !!

Welcome Back to School! The boys and girls in Room 112 have had a busy month this September. In Math, they started the term learning about graphs and data management. In Language Arts, the class has read many books together and on their own. They also the the opportunity to compare a book and a version found on DVD for Media Literacy. As well, the grade twos in Miss Mishos' class have spent much time getting to know one anther. They mapped out some very good rules and have learned a number of games to enhance their spelling and math skills. We look forward to a wonderful year and appreciate your support!
